A weekend immersion at Yoga Roots with Matthew Shaw

August 8-10

Join us for a dynamic weekend immersion led by visiting teacher Matthew Shaw (E-RYT 500, YACEP) — known for his intelligent sequencing, grounded approach to anatomy, and signature blend of strong flow and intentional rest.
Across three vibrant practices — Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon — you’ll move, sweat, breathe, and soften. Each session is designed to stand alone, but together they create a complete arc that supports entry into Flow State — that sweet spot where strength meets clarity, and movement becomes meditation.
Expect breath-driven vinyasa, targeted mobility work, and deep integration through pranayama and yoga nidra. Come for one class or stay for the full experience. Either way, you’ll leave feeling more connected to your body, your practice, and your breath.

Friday (6-8): Core 360: The Full Practice

A strong, breath-driven vinyasa practice to kick off the weekend by awakening the full circumference of your core — front, back, and side body. Through rotational movement, stability work, and intelligently layered transitions, we’ll build deep strength and sharpen focus from the inside out.
This 2-hour session closes with breathwork, meditation, and yoga nidra to ground your energy and prepare for the days ahead. All levels welcome; options and modifications will be offered throughout.

Saturday (2:30-4:30): Let’s Fly: An Arm Balance Workshop

This all-levels workshop is all about building confidence and curiosity around arm balances — think crow, side crow, flying pigeon, and friends. We’ll start with a strong, well-rounded flow to prepare the body, then break down key transitions with plenty of space to explore, modify, and play. Wherever you are in your arm balance journey, you’ll find something that meets you — and something that challenges you. Pinky promise. We’ll close with guided breathwork, meditation, and yoga nidra to settle and restore.

Sunday (2-4): Unlock Your Hips!

Whether your hips feel a bit off-kilter or simply tight from daily life, join Matthew for an all-levels Vinyasa yoga practice designed to enhance functional strength and mobility in the hips. This immersive session invites you to explore the full range of motion in your hip joints, releasing tension that often builds from long periods of sitting or standing. Matthew will guide you to find the ideal balance between strength and flexibility—helping you move more freely and feel more supported in your body.

Following the flow, we’ll transition into guided pranayama, yoga nidra, and meditation to soften, reset, and settle. You’ll leave feeling grounded, revitalized, and deeply refreshed.
